Wordgame fun: The HEALTH of our company is in doubt, but selling our REAL ESTATE wasn’t enough to save us. Even though it seems to be the current economic FASHION, OBAMA wouldn’t give us a bailout like the AUTO guys. There will be much ENTERTAINMENT for the business press as we try to fix a long-broken business model during the crappiest ECONOMY in a generation or three.

Andy Rooney is my least favorite commentator anywhere, ever. Generally, his senile ramblings at the end of 60 Minutes bring me to apoplexy. But this week’s paean to newspapers was just sad.

To think that a discussion of the woes of newspapers today remotely calls for a comparison to television is beyond clueless, even for Rooney.

The 4 PM dinner special in the piece:

“There’s still no decline in the faith that people put in their newspapers. Readers check their newspaper every morning to see if what they saw on television the night before was really true.”

Does it say something about Rooney’s audience when six out of seven comments on the clip are about the Obama story and not the subject at hand?
